Civil Engineering & Site Development in Eugene, Oregon
“Do you do civil engineering as well as structural?” is one of the questions we hear most. The answer is yes. Johnson Broderick Engineering is a civil engineer in Eugene, Oregon as well as a structural firm, with a tremendous amount of experience from subdivisions to parking lots, storm systems, paving, grading, roads and ramps. We provide civil engineering on its own or together with our structural work — and site development is one of the areas we most want to grow.

Civil and structural on one site
Having both disciplines in one office matters most on projects where the site and the building have to come together on a schedule.
On the new Dave’s Hot Chicken on Mohawk Boulevard in Springfield, the lot held an abandoned bank building. After we took the project through site review with the City of Springfield and the old building was demolished, we designed the civil site work: stormwater retention ponds, parking, the drive-through, circulation, sidewalks, ADA ramping and the trash enclosure. We designed the structure too. During construction we worked with the contractor on site, especially where the new civil design interfaced with the City of Springfield’s existing stormwater and sewer system. The restaurant opened on time in the summer of 2025. Read the project.
On the Bi-Mart store in Elma, Washington, our work ran from civil site development through the building design, coordinated with surveyors and geotechnical engineers.
Who we do civil work for
Developers, business owners, contractors, architects, public agencies and homeowners. On a residential lot that might be a driveway, a drainage problem or a stormwater facility required by the permit. On a commercial or industrial site it’s the whole site.
Brodie M. Davis, P.E., our civil engineer, is a registered professional civil engineer in Oregon and Washington.

Can you do a stormwater infiltration test and design the facility?
Yes — we can assist with the infiltration test and design the stormwater facility for your property. See Stormwater & Drainage Design.
My property is in a floodplain. Can you help?
Yes. Floodplain and floodway design is part of our civil practice.
